Typography

The main use of TUI Type Light in upper case for headlines is characteristic for the TUI Brand Design. All other texts use the TUI Type Light and Light Bold in mixed case, left-aligned.

The most important text hierarchies are defined as follows:

Headlines

  • Headlines in upper case in TUI Type Light, text highlighting in TUI Type Light Bold
  • Headlines should be short and brief, no more than 7-10 words or four lines long
  • Left-aligned
  • Font size depends on the available space where the headline is placed
  • Line spacing for headlines: 110%
  • Letter spacing +25

Sublines

  • Sublines in mixed case in TUI Type Light, text highlighting in TUI Type Light Bold
  • Not more than two lines long
  • Left-aligned
  • Line spacing for sublines: 120%
  • Font size is about half of the size of the headline and depends on the available space
  • Letter spacing 0

Copy

  • Further text elements (e.g. copy text, intro text) in mixed case in TUI Type Light, text highlighting in TUI Type Light Bold
  • Left-aligned
  • Line spacing for copy texts: 120%
  • Font size defined in the respective guidelines for each application
  • Letter spacing 0

Italic fonts

  • For quotations, bilingual texts
  • Left-aligned
  • Line spacing, letter spacing and font size follow the respective text format (e.g. headline, subline, copy)

Fallback fonts

First fallback font is Calibri. The shape of characters is very similar to TUI Type. If Calibri is not available use Droid Sans. Third fallback font is Arial. It works for all devices as well as common web browsing screens.
